How to Automate Your Etsy Shop with Make (Step by Step)
Connect your Etsy shop to Make and automate order notifications, inventory updates and review follow-ups. We tested Make's Etsy modules on the free plan in October 2026 and counted the credits.
The short answer
Make's free plan can run an Etsy order alert. It gives 1,000 credits a month and 2 active scenarios. Run the scenario once a day and five orders a day cost about 330 credits a month.

Quick verdict: Make has a verified Etsy app with two triggers (Watch Shop Receipts and Watch Transactions) plus modules for listings, inventory, and order tracking. We tested the Etsy modules on Make’s free plan on October 22, 2026. The free plan gives you 1,000 credits a month, 2 active scenarios, and a 15-minute minimum polling interval. We did not connect a live Etsy shop, so the credit estimates below are arithmetic from Make’s 1-credit-per-module rule.
Why automate an Etsy shop
Running an Etsy shop by hand means checking for new orders, copying tracking numbers into spreadsheets, answering the same shipping questions, and remembering to follow up for reviews. Five orders a day? That eats an hour.
Automation handles the repeating parts. A new order triggers a Slack message and a spreadsheet row. A shipped order sends a thank-you email three days later. Low stock? You get a flag before the listing sells out.
You still pack and ship. The admin around each sale runs itself. Make connects Etsy to 3,000+ other apps through a visual scenario builder, and the free plan has enough credits for a small shop to try it.
What we tested
We ran two tests on a free Make account.
October 18, 2026: We built a three-module scenario (HTTP request, Set variable, Compose a string) and ran it. The successful run cost 3 credits (1 per module). A failed run cost 1 credit because only the first module executed before the error. That confirmed Make’s counting rule: 1 credit per module action, regardless of the module type.
October 22, 2026: We opened the Etsy app in Make’s module picker, explored every available module, set up the Watch Shop Receipts trigger, built a three-module flow (Etsy Watch Shop Receipts, Google Sheets Add a Row, Slack Send a Message), and walked through the OAuth connection process up to Etsy’s sign-in page.
We did not sign in to an Etsy seller account, did not connect a live shop, and did not run a real order through the scenario. The credit estimates in this article are our arithmetic from the 1-credit-per-module rule confirmed in the October 18 test, not observed runs of Etsy data.
More on how Make counts credits is in our Make free plan guide.

The Etsy app in Make carries a “Verified” badge. It has two triggers and a long list of action modules grouped by category.
Triggers (polling):
- Watch Shop Receipts: fires when a shop receipt is created.
- Watch Transactions: fires when a transaction is made.
Both are polling triggers tied to your scenario schedule. On the free plan, the fastest interval is every 15 minutes.
Action modules (selected):
- Listings: Create a Listing, Update a Listing, Upload a Listing Image, List Shop Listings, List Etsy Active Listings, Get a Listing, Delete a Listing.
- Receipts: Update a Receipt, List Shop Receipts, Get a Receipt, Submit Tracking Info.
- Shop Inventory: Update a Listing Inventory, Get an Inventory.
- Transactions: List Transactions, Get a Transaction.
- Other: Make an API Call, Get My Shop.
Make an API Call lets you hit any Etsy v3 endpoint not covered by a dedicated module. We did not test it, but it exists for edge cases.
Three Etsy automations worth building
Each scenario below uses Make’s 1-credit-per-module rule. The credit numbers are estimates, not tested runs. We show the arithmetic so you can adjust for your order volume.
1. New order notification
Trigger: Etsy Watch Shop Receipts (1 credit per poll). Action 1: Google Sheets Add a Row with buyer name, item, price and date (1 credit). Action 2: Slack Send a Message to your orders channel (1 credit).
This is the exact three-module flow we built in our October 22 test.
Estimated cost: 3 credits per order, assuming the trigger fires and finds one new receipt. At 5 orders a day, that is 15 credits for the actions. The trigger also costs 1 credit per poll whether or not an order exists (96 polls a day on a 15-minute schedule = 96 credits). Daily total on a 15-minute schedule: about 111 credits. Monthly: about 3,330, which exceeds the free plan’s 1,000.
Fix: Run the scenario once a day instead of every 15 minutes. That drops the trigger cost to 1 credit per day. Five orders with 2 actions each = 10 action credits + 1 trigger credit = 11 credits per day, about 330 a month. Fits the free plan with room to spare.
2. Shipped-order follow-up
Trigger: Etsy Watch Shop Receipts (1 credit per poll). Filter: Check whether the receipt has tracking info (filters cost no credits in Make). We confirmed the Filter module is available on the free plan. Action 1: Sleep for up to 5 minutes (Sleep is available on the free plan, but a multi-day delay would need a separate daily scenario instead). Action 2: Send a follow-up message through Slack or email (1 credit).
For a true 3-day delay before sending a review request, build a second scenario that runs once daily. It checks yesterday’s shipped orders and sends the follow-up in batch. Two modules (trigger + action) = 2 credits per day, about 60 a month.
3. Low-stock alert
Trigger: Scheduled daily at 8 AM (1 credit). Action 1: Get an Inventory (Make lists this module under Shop Inventory). We did not test what data it returns, but the module is designed to retrieve listing quantities. Action 2: Filter for items below your threshold (no credit cost). Action 3: Slack Send a Message listing the low-stock items (1 credit, only if any items match the filter).
Estimated cost: 2-3 credits per day. About 60-90 credits a month. Fits the free plan easily alongside one other scenario.
Connect your Etsy shop to Make
We walked through these steps on October 22, 2026. We stopped at step 3 because we did not sign in to an Etsy seller account.
- Open Make and create a free account. No card needed.
- Create a new scenario. Search for “Etsy” in the module picker. The app shows a Verified badge.
- Select Watch Shop Receipts as the trigger. Click “Create a connection.” Make opens a dialog with a warning: “Due to API restrictions enforced by Etsy, users may struggle with experiencing API limits.” The Advanced settings reveal fields for a custom Client ID, Client Secret, and Additional Scopes.
- Click Save. A popup opens Etsy’s sign-in page. The OAuth URL requests scopes
shops_randtransactions_r(read shop data and read transactions). Write operations like updating listings or submitting tracking info likely require additional scopes added through the Advanced settings, but we did not verify this.
- Sign in to your Etsy seller account and approve the permissions. (We did not complete this step.)
- Back in Make, add your action modules (Google Sheets Add a Row, Slack Send a Message, or whichever app you need).
- Click “Run once” to test. Check the scenario history for credit use.
- If it works, switch the scenario on and set the schedule. The minimum on the free plan is every 15 minutes.
How credits work for Etsy scenarios
Make charges 1 credit for each module action. A trigger that polls for new orders costs 1 credit per check, even if no new order exists. On a 15-minute schedule, that is 96 checks a day, or 2,880 a month, before your action modules run.
Two scenarios on 15-minute schedules burn 5,760 trigger credits a month. That is more than five times the free plan’s 1,000. Two fixes help.
Run on a slower schedule. A daily morning check uses 1 trigger credit instead of 96. Most Etsy sellers will not lose a sale over a 15-minute delay on order notifications.
Use the Watch Transactions trigger instead. If you only need transaction-level data (not full receipt details), Watch Transactions is the other polling trigger available. It costs the same 1 credit per poll, but choosing the right trigger avoids running two separate scenarios for overlapping data.
| Schedule | Trigger credits per month | Room for actions (free plan) |
|---|---|---|
| Manual only (on-demand) | 0 | 1,000 credits |
| Once a day | 30 | 970 credits |
| Every 6 hours | 120 | 880 credits |
| Every hour | 720 | 280 credits |
| Every 15 minutes | 2,880 | Over budget on free |

Pricing (verified October 22, 2026)
| Make plan | Monthly | Yearly | Credits per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1,000 |
| Core | $10.59/mo | $9/mo | 10,000 |
| Pro | $18.82/mo | $16/mo | not recorded |
For most Etsy sellers doing 5-20 orders a day with 1-2 scenarios, Core at $9 a month on annual billing covers the credit needs with room to spare. The free plan works for a single daily-schedule scenario or for testing before you commit to a paid tier.
Our Make free plan guide has the full pricing table and explains when credits run short.
Start on Make's free plan →Which setup should you pick
A new Etsy seller with 1-5 orders a day who wants to try automation: start with Make's free plan. Build one order-notification scenario, run it once a day, and see if it saves you time before paying.
An established seller with 10-30 orders a day who wants faster notifications and multiple workflows: Make Core at $9/mo yearly. Core gives you 10,000 monthly credits and removes the 2-scenario limit, which covers several workflows on faster schedules.
A seller who wants to automate everything (orders, shipping, reviews, inventory, social posting): plan the credit math before building. Five scenarios on 15-minute schedules can burn 15,000+ trigger credits a month on their own. Batch what you can into daily runs. Start with Core and watch the credit counter for the first month.
FAQ
Does Make connect to Etsy?
Yes. Make lists Etsy as a verified app with modules for receipts, listings, inventory, transactions, and a catch-all Make an API Call module. We confirmed this on October 22, 2026.
What triggers does Make have for Etsy?
Two polling triggers: Watch Shop Receipts (fires when a receipt is created) and Watch Transactions (fires when a transaction is made). Both run on your scenario’s polling schedule.
How many credits does an Etsy automation use?
Each module action costs 1 credit. A 3-module scenario (trigger + 2 actions) costs 3 credits per run. That is what our October 18, 2026 test showed for a scenario of the same size. Polling triggers cost 1 credit per check whether or not new data exists.
Can I automate Etsy on Make’s free plan?
Yes, with limits. The free plan gives you 1,000 credits a month, 2 active scenarios, and a 15-minute minimum polling interval. A single scenario running once a day uses about 90-120 credits a month. A scenario polling every 15 minutes uses 2,880+ trigger credits alone, which exceeds the free allowance.
Is Make better than Zapier for Etsy?
Make’s free plan gives 1,000 credits a month against Zapier’s 100 tasks, and Make’s visual canvas shows the data at each step. Our Zapier alternatives guide compares the two in detail.
How we tested
On October 18, 2026 we built and ran a three-module scenario on a free Make account, recorded the credits on the scenario history page, and read prices on the Subscription page inside that account.
On October 22, 2026 we opened the Etsy app in Make, reviewed every module listed, built a three-module Etsy scenario (Watch Shop Receipts, Google Sheets Add a Row, Slack Send a Message), initiated the OAuth connection flow, and confirmed the schedule minimum and free-plan limits. We verified that Sleep (up to 5 minutes) and Filter are available on the free plan. We did not sign in to an Etsy seller account, did not connect a live shop, and did not run a real order through the scenario. The credit estimates in this article are arithmetic from Make’s 1-credit-per-module counting rule, not measured Etsy runs.
Prices were last verified on Make’s Subscription page and pricing page on October 22, 2026. More on our method is on the About page.
Final verdict
Pick one Etsy task that eats the most time each day. Build a 3-module scenario on Make’s free plan. Run it once a day for a week and check the credit counter. If it saves you an hour, the free plan already paid for itself. Need faster polling or a third scenario? Core is $9 a month.
